Florida Metropolitan University launched FMU Online virtual learning campus in 1999 by offering five courses on two campuses. After our initial pilot phase, FMU expanded its online course offerings to include all nine FMU campuses. Since then FMU has consistently added courses within these Associate and Bachelor's degrees and today all of the courses necessary to complete the degrees are available online which now includes Master's programs.
FMU Online courses are designed around and maintained on the eCollege platform which is media intensive and uses very effective course authoring tools. All course professors are required to complete an intensive teacher-training course, which prepares them to teach and/or create an online course following specific course guidlines.
FMU Online Degree Advantages
FMU Online primarily educates working adults. Many of these students are paying their own way and manage careers, family, and personal lives as they pursue the educational goals. These students expect to actively participate and be more self-directed in their education.
Online learning at FMU enables students to learn and practice a subject that is integral to their educational objectives. It also provides students with the added flexibility and convenience the need to complete of their education while continuing to manage careers, families, and home lives.
Where in the past students may have had to drop out when employment, travel, family emergencies, or other personal demands interfered, online learning can allow them to continue their programs without interruption.
